About Us

Pass Christian High School, with a current enrollment of 636, serves students in grades 9-12 and is one of a select group of schools nationwide named by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence (2005). We have consistently earned Value Added Awards from the State Department of Education, in the areas of the ACT, Algebra I, Biology I, English II, and US History. The Mississippi High School Activities Association recognizes numerous Pass Christian High School Scholar Athletic Teams yearly. Pass High has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as being one of the best high schools in the nation, and has earned the title of being the number one high school in the state of Mississippi! Based on the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) rankings of individual schools, our high school consistently has held one of the top QDI rankings in the state, with Pass High's most recent QDI an impressive 226. Our students' average ACT score is 19.6, with a state average of 17.6; and a national average of 20.7. 

Our present school was built in 1999 to replace a 1930's vintage school building which was then renovated to house the Pass Christian Middle School. A new addition to PCHS was opened in the fall of 2002, providing an additional sixteen classrooms. Pass Christian High School is a source of pride for our community and is equipped with modern technology, chemistry, and biology labs, an inviting media center with conference room, a career center, a health clinic, a "commons cafe" area, a Crow's Nest (senior area), and our own Pass High Coliseum.  Pass High's newest improvements include a band hall to our the "Pride of the Pass" Marching Band, new turf upgrades to our Football Stadium, and renovations to our Baseball and Softball complex. We are committed to ensuring a safe environment for our students and everyone on our campus.

Pass High, a Title I school, utilizes the four-by-four block schedule which allows students to earn as many as 8 credits per year. The curriculum offers a full range of courses from compensatory and developmental to Advanced Placement and Dual Credit based on state and national standards. Educators at Pass High are data-driven and constantly seek to measure understanding and mastery regarding student performance to enhance instructional planning, methods, strategies, activities, and assessments.

Renaissance, a Josten's philosophy of respect, recognition, and reward, is a guiding principle at Pass High. The benefits of this philosophy enhance our school culture by having a positive impact on students, faculty, and staff members. Many activities are in place to allow students and teachers to celebrate and be celebrated! Just to name a few, our school hosts Block Parties; Praise Referral Luncheons; Birthday Brigades; Renaissance 9-week Award Rallies; Inspirational Teacher Recognition; Advanced Placement (AP) Have a Heart Party; One Smart Cookie ACT Improvement board; Student, Athlete, and Artist of the Month awards and recognition; a variety of clubs including Interact, Knitting, FCA, Dance, Green Club, Guitar club, and more. All special events are strategically organized to protect instructional time. Additionally, many of our students participate in off-campus JROTC and/or Career and Technical Education opportunities through partnerships with neighboring districts. 

Pass Christian High School has implemented two learning "academies" to enhance our students' experience while in high school. 

Pirate College Preparatory Academy (PCPA), offers students a guide to the many diverse selections of Advanced Placement Courses and Honors Courses offered at Pass Christian High School. Students may select Advanced Placement and Honors course offerings: Government and Politics AP, Biology AP, Psychology AP, US History, Statistics AP, Computer Science AP, Genetics, Zoology, Government, Problems of American Democracy, Anatomy & Physiology, French Language, and Spanish Language.  PCHS also offers dual credit enrollment for qualifying students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously for select courses such as; World Literature, English Composition I & II, Calculus, College Algebra/Trigonometry, and Chemistry. Qualifying seniors are given the opportunity to "dual enroll" at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, The University of Southern Mississippi, and William Carey University. 

Pirate Career Readiness Academy (PCRA) offers professional and/or technical certifications, skills, knowledge, and abilities for Pirate learners.  Training programs will include four main areas of study; Maintenance, Technology, Auto Mechanics, and Child Nutrition. Students will be able to gain on-the-job training in various trades such as; emergency medical technician training, welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and lighting, network topologies (access points, switching, and routing), telephone maintenance and management, training for CDL endorsements, Chromebook repair and maintenance, managing a commercial kitchen, ensure customer satisfaction, recipe conversion & development, manage inventory & employees, as well as earn a ServSafe certification.  

Pass High is proud to provide opportunities for students excelling academically to participate in distinguished organizations such as the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Beta Club, and Student Council. Since our PSAT program's inception in 2008, Pass High has had a total of eleven National Merit Finalist award recipients.
