Mr. Boyd West
Welcome to Pass Christian High School, Home of the Pirates!
It’s always a great time to be a Pirate! We are excited about all of the awesome opportunities that will be made available to all of our students during the 2021-2022 school year and look forward to continuing and expanding the tradition of excellence for which Pass Christian High School is known.
Pass High lives by the same vision statement as our district, Committed to Excellence. Our beliefs, incorporating stakeholder input, are as follows:
Students excel when...
- Curriculum is challenging and progressive;
- All are actively engaged in the learning process;
- All have an equal opportunity to learn;
- Learning is a shared responsibility;
- Held to clearly defined, high expectations; and
- All are accepted, valued, and safe.
As a Mississippi Department of Education high-performing high school and a nationally-rated school by US News and World Report, Pass Christian High School is proud of the accomplishments of previous graduating classes and will continue to provide opportunities for students excelling academically to participate in distinguished organizations such as the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Beta Club, and Student Council. Since our PSAT program's inception in 2008, Pass High has had a total of thirty-two National Merit Finalist award recipients. With regard to scholarship awards, the total accrued by seniors over the past five years exceeds $40 million!
As we embark on this new school year, our mission will be to help each student decide which line in life to get into and empower each student to move to the front of that line. Whether our students choose to pursue a future through college, technical training, military service, or entrepreneurial opportunities, our team will provide classroom instruction and real-world experiences to ensure that our students are well prepared to enter the next phase of their lives with confidence.
We will accomplish our mission in a challenging, nurturing, and safe school environment. Our amazing faculty and staff have built a culture of excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, and community service that enrich the lives of all students as they pursue their individual and group interests and passions. A wise person once said, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Our goal is to help each student discover and expand his or her passion and turn that passion into a successful career.
We also want our Pirates to enjoy the journey, so our team is prepared to offer all of the activities and events that make Pass Christian High School the BEST high school in Mississippi! Renaissance, a Josten's philosophy of respect, recognition, and reward is a guiding principle at Pass High. The benefits of this philosophy enhance our school culture by having a positive impact on students, faculty, and staff members. Many activities are in place to allow students and teachers to celebrate and be celebrated! Just to name a few, our school hosts Block Parties, Praise Referral Luncheons, Birthday Brigades, Attendance Incentives, Renaissance 9-week Award Rallies, Inspirational Teacher Recognition, Advanced Placement (AP) Have a Heart Party, One Smart Cookie ACT Improvement board, Student, Athlete, and Artist of the Month t-shirts and recognition, a variety of clubs including Jr. Civitan, Interact, Knitting, FCA, Dance, Green Club, GSA, FCCLA, Renaissance, and more. All special events are strategically organized to protect instructional time. Additionally, many of our students participate in off-campus JROTC and Career Technical Education Programs through partnerships with neighboring districts.
Pass High offers the Pirate College Preparatory Academy - academic programming that offers a variety of Dual Credit and Advanced Placement courses that give qualifying students a head start on college while still in high school. The 2021-2022 school year will also introduce the Pirate Career Readiness Academy - an internship-based program that gives students practical experience in a variety of trade fields. Included in the PCRA are opportunities for students to participate in the Ingalls Shipbuilder Academy, the Mississippi Power Energy Academy, and AMR’s Emergency Medical Technician Program.
I am honored and humbled to have been chosen to continue the great legacy of Pass Christian High School Principals, and I am excited about partnering with our faculty, staff, parents, and community to create the best opportunities for our most important assets–our students. Let’s help the Tenacious Class of 2022 and those following them to have an amazing year!
